Welcome

Cochise County VVA Chapter 1020 received it's recognition as a chapter on January 24, 2009. As the name implies, we serve all Vietnam and Vietnam era veterans in Cochise County Arizona. With 26 charter members and 6 AVVA (Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America) the chapter received it's recognition from the Arizona State Council. The name Cochise County was decided by the members to insure we serve all Veterans in Cochise County, AZ.

Arizona State Council

The Arizona State Council for Vietnam Veterans of America and Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America met in Sierra Vista on the 6th of February. This was a quarterly meeting of the council. Many of Chapter 1020 members attended and had the chance to meet representatives from all the chapters in the state, state officers, and our Region IX director. The chapter was commended several times for the support given for hosting the conference. A special thanks to Ryan Yearicks display of Vietnam memorabilia, weapons, and artifacts. Thanks to the members who attended and made the meeting a success!

Our Mission

The mission of Cochise County Chapter 1020 falls in line with the VVA. We are committed to work with Vietnam era veterans to assist them with issues unique to the Vietnam veteran. Advocacy of veteran issues is our priority and include government accounting of POW/MIA's, Agent Orange issues, veterans rights, benefits, and dignity. We believe in our creed “Never again will one generation of veterans leave another behind”. We will work closely with all communities within the county and provide assistance to veterans through programs within VVA and our chapter.

Our Chapter

Our chapter presently consists of five officers, President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant at Arms. We have a board of directors, and representation on the Arizona state council. We are organized under the national constitution and by-laws of Vietnam Veterans of America. No matter where in Cochise County Veterans and their families live, we strive to serve Veterans. Vietnam Veterans, if you live in Sierra Vista, Huachuca City, Bisbee, Tombstone, Hereford, Palominos, Douglas, Wilcox, Sonoita, Benson or anywhere in between, please join us!
